Functional Description:
The tactical local area networ (taclan)non-secure internet protocol router (nipr) redundancy kit, or nipr redundancy kit (nrk), is a sub-set of, and an additon to, the full nsn: 5810-01-518-7269, the command and control (c2) nsn: 5895-01-559-8750 taclan suites, and the nipr segment (n-segment) of equipment. The nipr nrk provides a back-up server and storage capability for the unclassified network equipment segment included in the taclan full and c2 suites of equipment. When properly configured and connected to the dod non-secure can extend niprnet capability by providing redundancy in the event of a main n-segment failure
