Functional Description:
The an/asq- 240, commonly referred to as enhance medium altitude reconnaissance and surveillance system (emarss), is a manned multi-intelligence, reconnaissance and surveillance (aisr) hawker beechcraft 350er aircraft that provides a capability to detect, locate, classify/identify, and track surface tack surface targets in day/night, near-all-weather conditions with a high degree of timeliness and accuracy. Emarss is envisioned to replace guardrail common sensor. Emarss aircraft will be located within aerial exploitation battaliions (aebs), which are assigned to the u.S. Army intelligence and security command (inscom). This system will provide full motion video (fmv) and tactical signals intelligence (sigint) collection and dissemination. Individual platforms will send data via air-to-ground wideband common data links (cdl) into the ground base system that will be provided by the distributed common ground system - army (dcgs-a) program office.
