  Identification Codes

HMIC: Hazardous Material Indicator Code. Identifies a hazardous item.

PMIC: Precious Metal Indicator Code. Identifies items that have precious metals as part of their content. precious metals are those metals generally considered to be uncommon, highly valuable, and relatively superior in certain properties such as resistance to corrosion and electrical conductivity.

ESD: Electrostatic Discharge. Indicates if an item is susceptible to electrostatic discharge or electromagnetic interference damage. electrostatic discharge damage occurs when an accumulation of static electricity generated by the relative motion or separation of materials is released to another item by direct contact. electromagnetic interference damage occurs when an item comes into proximity with an electrostatic or magnetic field.

ENAC: Enviromental Attribute Code. Identifies items with environmentally preferred characteristics.

CRITL: Criticality Indicator Code. Indicates an item is technically critical by tolerance, fit, application, nuclear hardness properties, or other characteristics.

  Freight Codes

NAIC: North American Industry Classification. Classifies items and business activity for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy.

SITC: Standard International Trade Classification.

NMFC: National motor freight classification. A six position numeric code, which divides articles into groups or classes according to physical characteristics. the classification is based on truckloads vs. less than truckload.

UFC: Universal freight classification. a five position numeric code, which divides articles into groups or classes according to physical characteristics. the classification is based on carload vs. less than carload.

LTL: Less than a truckload rating.

LCL: Less than a carload rating.

WCC: Water commodity code. A three position code that indicates all shipments via water.

TCC: Type of Cargo Code. A one position code for all shipments via water to identify the type of cargo included within the shipment unit.

SHC: Special Handling Code. A one position code for all shipments via water to identify the exception handling required for cargo included within the shipment unit

ADC: Air Dimension Code. A one position alpha code that identifies dimensional characteristics of air shipments by relating the length, width, or height dimensions of the largest piece to the minimum size cargo door opening of an aircraft

ACC: Air Commodity Code. A one position code for all shipments via air to identify material for manifesting and customs requirements
