Definition Definition of approved item name (AIN): "MARKER,TRAFFIC"

A cone-shaped item, used generally with other identical items, for vehicular and pedestrian traffic control. It is placed in position in a traffic area and is removed therefrom when the traffic condition it controls no longer exists. It is not designed to be mounted. It may be luminescent or nonluminescent. One type serves as a traffic barricade, indicating that traffic is barred from a specific area, and is designed to accomodate a traffic sign and traffic flags at the end. Another type is used primarily to channel traffic from lines and warnings freshly painted on traffic area surfaces. The exterior surfaces of both types have parallel color zones extending from the base end to the top. Excludes marker, self-luminous and sign.

  Identification Codes

HMIC: Hazardous Material Indicator Code. Identifies a hazardous item.

PMIC: Precious Metal Indicator Code. Identifies items that have precious metals as part of their content. precious metals are those metals generally considered to be uncommon, highly valuable, and relatively superior in certain properties such as resistance to corrosion and electrical conductivity.

ESD: Electrostatic Discharge. Indicates if an item is susceptible to electrostatic discharge or electromagnetic interference damage. electrostatic discharge damage occurs when an accumulation of static electricity generated by the relative motion or separation of materials is released to another item by direct contact. electromagnetic interference damage occurs when an item comes into proximity with an electrostatic or magnetic field.

ENAC: Enviromental Attribute Code. Identifies items with environmentally preferred characteristics.

CRITL: Criticality Indicator Code. Indicates an item is technically critical by tolerance, fit, application, nuclear hardness properties, or other characteristics.
