A telephone office having switching facilities for connecting any dial telephone station within its office area to any other telephone station within the area. The switching mechanism is actuated by current pulses from the telephone station dial. It generally has trunking facilities to other central offices for making connections to telephone stations in those offices. The central office includes all equipment required to serve the station lines having a common office name and may include a manual switchboard for certain types of services. Does not include the outside lines from the central office to the telephone station.
