Ballistic tested
A transparent item consisting of prestressed pieces of glass, with straight parallel surfaces. Prestress results from heating up to fusing temperature followed by uniform quenching on both sides. Quick shrinking produces a high surface tension which only can be broken down by a heavy mechanical load. The shattered glass crumbles into spherical non-splintering pieces. It may be heat resistant or tinted and is generally used where safety characteristics such as in motor-vehicle windows are required. Excludes glass, laminated.
