Telephone line converter module provides the talk battery, ring generation and off hook detection necessary to operate a standard telephone; it also provides the ring detection and line seizure needed when connecting to a pbxstation or co trunk; on board is a 2-wire to 4-wire hybrid that separates the transmit and receive audio paths; the board also contains a pulse code modulator and demodulator which converts the audio signals into a serial bit stream; the use of compandors further refine the quality of the audio; the output is 4-wire 600 ohm audio or synchronous serial data via a rs-422 interface; an on board clock generator is provided (selectable data rate from 28kbps to 256kbps) or the system will accept an external clock signal
An electronic device which receives, converts and transmits ringing and/or supervisory or other messages over a communication circuit in the form of audio frequency tones. May include integral interrupters, oscillators and hybrid and filter networks. Excludes generator, ringing, static and generator, ringing, machine.
