Telephone line converter module provides the talk battery, ring generation and off hook detection necessary to operate a standard telephone; also provides the ring detection and line seizure needed when connecting to a pbx station or co trunk; on board is a 2-wire to 4-wire hybrid that separates the transmit and receive audio paths; the board also contains a pulse code modulator and demodulator which converts the audio signals into a serial bit stream; the use of compandors further refine the quality of the audio; the output is 4-wire 600 ohm audio or synchonous serial data via a rs-422 interface; an onboard clock generator is provided (selectable data rate from 28kbps to 256kbps) or the system will accept an external clock signal
